Since 2020, Glafira Taratynova has been working with ceramics and the pottery wheel. She finds it fascinating to see the mesmerising transformations clay and glazes conduct in the kiln firing process. They often remind her of the beautiful consistency or body paint can take on. Thus, sometimes painting and ceramics can seem similar to her. These wheel-thrown pots were made in 2023 from black clay. All are glazed, fired at 1250 degrees Celsius, and available for purchase through e-mail or message.

The enchanting beauty of crackle glazes lies in their ability to create depth and texture on the ceramic surface. Cracks in the glaze catch and reflect light, creating a visual effect. The contrast between the cracked and smooth polished areas adds visual interest and complexity to the piece. Crackle glazes also have a tactile appeal; rubbing a crack with your finger can be a sensual experience because the texture of the crack is different from that of smooth glaze. This tactile element invites to engage on a more intimate level.
